Concordia Academy-Wichita (CAW)
January 2026
Cookie decorating extravaganza in December for Phoenix Friday!
From Headmaster Snyder
Taking a moment to look back over the past months, we catch our breath, sharpen our pencils for the next semester, and thank God for His many blessings. The school at Faith Lutheran, a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, goes by the name of Concordia Academy – Wichita. Our beautiful campus at Faith, known as the Primary Campus, is home to a growing pre-K through 8th grade community of teachers, students, and—above all—families.
Since Thanksgiving, five new students have joined us, bringing our daily total to eighteen students regularly on campus. Ms. Amy Haist of Trinity Lutheran and Mrs. Amber Wittig of Exodus Church serve as teachers for the upper and introductory grades respectively, together representing well over fifty years of experience in their fields. They are assisted by Mrs. Amy Filipek, wife of Pastor Aaron Filipek of Trinity Lutheran Wichita, and new this semester, Mrs. Kena Alderson of Immanuel Lutheran, an experienced Lutheran classical teacher who is helping to shape our developing middle school program.
We are blessed with a close-knit community of scholars who are growing in both knowledge and wisdom. Each school day begins and ends with prayer and catechism, as students gather together at 8:30 each morning and again at 2:50 in the afternoon. You would be pleased to observe the impressive memory work of even our very youngest students.
Looking ahead, we anticipate continued growth in the new year and look forward to welcoming many families who wish to explore Concordia Academy at our upcoming open house on January 20. New students continue to be added regularly, our curriculum is expanding, and students are enjoying new field trips aboard the Phoenix Phlyer school bus. The blessings planted by Faith Lutheran at this campus are strengthened by the prayers and support of other district churches as we daily aid parents in the building up of their children.
Our high school program also continues to see encouraging developments. A new student has joined the community this semester, and three seniors will present their thesis work this spring. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credit through College Board CLEP testing. In addition, we look forward to welcoming Dr. Thomas Korcok of Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario, who will serve as our guest speaker at the spring gala dinner.
With gratitude for what the Lord has done and confidence in His continued provision, we press forward into the coming semester at Concordia Academy – Wichita.
